I hope everyone had a meaningful and enjoyable Purim. A very special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Lautman for all of his hard work and dedication in putting together another year of outstanding baalei kriah for megilah consisting of our teenage young adults.
Now we can start to focus on Pesach. You should have received your Pesach packet with all of the important Pesach information in it. If you have any questions about Pesach, please let me know.
Although Purim is always a day of fun and enjoyment, this year in our community it was a bittersweet one. A young man, Mordechai Turner, son of Tzvi and Devorah Turner, passed away and the funeral was on Purim. At the funeral it was mentioned that when a young person in the community passes away, it should give us cause for concern and maybe give us the opportunity to think of what we can do to improve ourselves and to be an illuy to his neshama. It was strongly suggested at the funeral that there is something that we can take upon ourselves that is of great significance and could make a big difference in our davening. Everyone is being asked to turn off their cell phones or smart phones during the duration of davening in shule. That means we would all daven from a siddur, and not use our devices at all during davening. I would like to personally ask everyone to please follow this new initiative and to turn off your phones while you are in shule. If you need to check an e-mail or text and make a call or receive one, please go outside the room to do so. I assure you it will make a major difference in your davening and be a great benefit to our shule as well.
Have a great Shabbos.
