Dear Members and Friends,
We hope you had an enjoyable Yom Tov. It was wonderful to see many of our members return to shul over Pesach, and we enjoyed seeing the return of so many guests to our shul during the Chag as well. Our shul’s strength and vibrancy was apparent at all our minyanim, with ruach, dvrei Torah shared by our members, and beautiful tefillah again ringing throughout the building.
As we typically do on Yom Tov, we conducted an appeal on Shevii shel Pesach before Yizkor. Over the past year, we have done many things as a shul to keep us strong and connected during these unusual times. In addition to daily minyanim, shiurim, and learning at the Kollel, we have provided additional learning opportunities (in person and via Zoom), children’s programing, outreach programs to the home bound, socially-distant “socializing” opportunities, and much more.
The last year has not been without challenges, though. Critical sources of income have taken a hit due to the pandemic. Social hall rentals have been limited. Funds from aliyos are down as well, as a result of our attempts to limit our time in the building together and make davening more efficient and, therefore, not pausing for pledges from aliyos.
The Pesach appeal was for our budget needed to maintain our beautiful building. While our income is down, our expenses are on the rise. The building has continued to age during the pandemic, and maintaining our roof, HVAC systems, basement, electrical, and the parking lot are all essential and overdue, to name just a few specifics.
Perhaps now more than ever, we ask for your assistance to help maintain the building that is a focal point of our religious lives, and we hope in the merit of your financial contribution the neshamos of each of our loved ones that have passed will be zocheh to an Aliyah.
For those who were in shul over the Chag, please send in your pledge as soon as possible. And even for those who could not join us over Pesach, we ask you also to please consider making a contribution. Payments can be made on-line through our website https://yigc.org/donate/ or sent in via check (please write “Pesach Appeal” in the memo).
Thank you in advance for your continued support, as we look forward to welcoming more of you back in person in the coming weeks.
