Rabbi’s Message & YIGC Announcements for 4/14/18
I hope your Yom Tov was an enjoyable and meaningful one. This Erev Shabbos we will have a Carlebach Minyan at the 6:25pm minyan, and we will begin our Shabbos afternoon summer schedule of two minyanim for Mincha. The first minyan will be at 6:15 PM and the second minyan approximately 35 minutes before sunset. Rabbi Moshe Berger will give his pre Maariv shiur, approximately one half hour before Maariv and I will give my pre Mincha shiur at 5:30PM. This week I would like to devote the shiur to the topic of “What Should Shabbos look like if there is no functioning Eruv in your community?” Since we had a close call a few weeks ago, I thought it would be a good idea to familiarize ourselves with some of the rules and concepts that are relevant to the laws of carrying on Shabbos. We hope this issue will not come up in the foreseeable future, but it wouldn’t hurt to be better prepared going forward, just in case. I also want to discuss some of my ideas of topics to cover in the weeks going forward. Please join us for the shiur.
Mazel tov to the members of the Daf Yomi Shiur on the completion of Seder Nizikin. There will be a community siyum on Sunday morning at 9:30AM at Heights Jewish Center. Our Daf Yomi class will begin Masechs Zevachim tomorrow, Shabbos afternoon, between the two Mincha minyanim, at 6:45PM, in the main shule.
This coming week we will celebrate Yom Hoaztmaut on Thursday. It is a special time to thank Hashem for giving us back the great gift of Eretz Yisroel. It is amazing how quickly seventy years have gone by, and the tremendous growth and development that has happened in such a short period of time. Unfortunately, there have been many sacrifices and korbanos along the way.
Have a great Shabbos.
