This Shabbos we will have the pleasure of having Rabbi Menachem Greenblatt as our Scholar in Residence. Rabbi Greenblatt is the Rabbi of the Agudas Yisroel of St. Louis. In addition he is the father of our member Rabbi Avrohom Baruch Greenblatt. Rabbi Greenblatt will speak before Musaf at the main minyan and at Shalosh Seudos. Please join us.
Every five years the World Zionist Congress elections provide you, me and every member of the American Orthodox community the unique opportunity to impact the religious future of Israeli society and world Jewry. From now until March 11, 2020, we can each do so by participating in this election and by voting for the Orthodox Israel Coalition, Slate #4.
These elections determine the composition of the World Zionist Congress which makes numerous decisions in both policy and fund allocations that directly affect Orthodox interests and needs. One small example is the impact these elections have had on the degree of funding allocated for American students’ post-high school study in Israel. The reduced Orthodox presence on the World Zionist Congress, reflecting the failure of many within our community to participate in past elections, resulted in such funding dropping from its 2011 level of $1,000 per student to its current level of $200 per student.
I suggest that it is incumbent on you to vote in these elections, and I urge voting for the Orthodox Israel Coalition, Slate #4.
Please encourage your friends, family and community members to vote by sharing with them the following link www.OU.org/vote/OUPresident.
You should have already received the flyer about our upcoming Purim party, scheduled for Sunday March 6. I am sure it will be lots of fun for all in attendance. Please make your reservations as soon as possible, so that we will have an idea how many people are planning to attend and we can plan accordingly.
Have a great Shabbos.
