Rabbi’s Message, YIGC Announcements, & Kidz Korner Parsha Sheet for 12/12/2020
I hope everyone will have an enjoyable and safe Chanukah. Although Chanukah is usually a time of socializing with family and friends, this year, I hope, we will all be on our best behavior to remain safe. As the virus spreads in our community, along with so many other communities around the country and the entire world, we shouldn’t forget to be on guard to continue to maintain all the social distancing rules and regulations we have been trying to follow so far. Hopefully if we remain safe the virus will start to let up and eventually, with the help of Hashem, leave us for good. We would like to remind you that if you are feeling any symptoms or you are in quarantine from exposure to those with Covid-19, then you should not come to shul.
This past week we lost another one of our great rabbinic leaders, Rabbi Gedaliah Dov Schwartz, who was the Av Beis Din of the Beis Din of America, and the Av Beis Din of the Chicago Rabbinical Council. He was a leading halachic authority who was involved, as a rabbinic leader, in many areas of Jewish communal life. He will be sorely missed. Y’hee Zichro Barach.
Wishing everyone a great Shabbos and a freilichin Chanukah.

Join us in the “Be the Spark in Someone Else’s Day” initiative. Is there someone who you used to see in shul and they are no longer attending? Have you been home and miss saying good Shabbos to someone else you used to see often? Take a moment each week of Kislev to reignite that spark of friendship and give a community member a call, send a text or an email to stay connected until we IYH can all spend time together again. Please contact the Young Israel office if you need an email or phone number.
