Dear Member:
As we prepare for Shabbos, our eyes and hearts are focused on Acheinu Bnai Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel. We continue to daven to Hashem that He should help us to defeat our enemy, with as few casualties and loss of life as possible. We continue to daven for miracles.
I would like to suggest two ideas that maybe we can incorporate into our Shabbos, for the forseeable future, that could possibly be a Zchus (merit) for Acheinu Bnai Yisroel.
1) The women in our kehilla should attempt to light Shabbos candles five minutes before the official time of candle lighting. This would mean taking on Shabbos 5 minutes earlier. This practice is found in our tradition as being beneficial as a Zchus during times of Tzaros.
2) We as a Tzibur should refrain from all unnecessary talking in shul during davening. I recall our kehilla taking on this practice years ago in a time of Tzaros, and it was well received. If one needs to talk, one can go outside and return when finished talking.
In the merit of our trying to enhance our Shabbos observance and the kedusha of our Bais Haknesses, may we merit to see an end to this very difficult and painful time for Am Yisroel. May we all merit the coming of Moshiach very soon.
Have a peaceful, and safe Shabbos.
