Shabbos Announcements 10/20-21/23

 Dear Member:

 Yesterday, the President of the United States, Mr. Joe Biden spoke to the American people, and gave a very pro–Israel message. He attempted to demonstrate that it is important to help and protect the State of Israel, not  only because we are an important ally, but in addition because if our enemies can succeed in their very dangerous and evil mission, all of mankind, including the United States, is in serious danger.  I am sure we all agree with his message, and we are pleased that he is portraying himself as a true friend of Israel, and the Jewish people.  However, we still need to do our part to continue to do our part to help Acheinu Bnai Yisroel.  Whether it be through Tefilah, Tzedaka, or acts of chesed to each other.  We must remain vigilant in our sending a message to Hashem, and to the rest of the world as well, that we truly care about each other.  I very much appreciated the answer someone was quoted as saying when asked if they had any relatives currently in Israel.  The answer was “a few million”.  That is how we must think, act and believe.

Community Announcements

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland has mobilized multiple resources to support Israel and energize our community during the crisis:

• The Federation is running an Israel Emergency Campaign alongside its 2024 Campaign for Jewish Needs. The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation announced a $15 million match to emergency gifts dollar-for-dollar, plus matching for annual Campaign gifts. Donate at jewishcleveland.org. Israel emergency dollars go directly and immediately toward urgent needs resulting from the crisis and to victims of terror.
• The Jewish Volunteer Network (JVN) has volunteer options to express our support for our brethren in Israel as well as older adults in Cleveland. Caring Calls to Older Adults in Cleveland: Connect with community members to show we care by making “caring calls.” Guidelines and a sample script will be provided. • Mobilizing Letters of Support: JVN is digitally sending letters of support, cards, and short video messages to civilians, our partner city Beit Shean, and IDF soldiers. Send your letters, cards, and videos to volunteer@jewishcleveland.org.
• Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett speaks in Cleveland on November 15. Advance registration is required via Jewish Federation of Cleveland: Upcoming Events.

A former Clevelander and treasurer of Young Israel, Sam Sadoff, is collecting $22K to purchase needed security gear for his yishuv. Hispin is located 7 minutes from the Syrian border and needs the following equipment for the local alert platoon:
