Dear Member:
Once again we find ourselves in the middle of the Nine Days, slowly approaching another Tisha B’Av. Our rabbis teach us that any generation that does not merit the rebuilding of the Bais Hamikdash, it is as if it was destroyed in that generation. In other words, if we still have not merited the rebuilding of the Bais Hamikdash, it means we are still guilty of the sins that lead to its destruction. Our rabbis teach us that the second Bais Hamikdash was destroyed because of sinas chinam, unjust hatred. That means that we are still guilty of unjust hatred in our times as well. Easier said than done. We have to make an extra effort to improve on our interpersonal relationships, and to learn how to respect and tolerate each other. It doesn’t sound so hard, but we know it is not so easy either.
I wish everyone a great Shabbos, and a meaningful and easy fast.
Rabbi Burnstein
