This week our kehilla and community lost a very special individual, Mr. Leonard Fuchs. Leonard was a leader who helped build and sustain our Young Israel. Almost from his arrival in Cleveland many years ago, Leonard was active in many roles in our shule. He used to like to remind me of the many positions he held in our shule. As a matter of fact, one of the only positions he did not hold was that of Rabbi. He was close to all the rabbis in our shule, and I was one of the beneficiaries of that very special relationship. I hope to find other opportunities to share with you more of my personal thoughts about Leonard and Susan Fuchs.
This Shabbos morning we will have a very special siyum on the entire shisha sidrei mishna, made by our member, Mr. Jeffrey Belkin. A very special mazel tov to Jeff on this monumental accomplishment. May many others learn from Jeff’s example and take on such wonderful projects.
This Sunday morning, January 2, our kollel will have another in its series of legal holiday lectures. The topic will be “A Halachic Perspective on Lab Grown Meat”. I am looking forward to the learning program and shiur. Please join us for the breakfast, learning program and shiur.
Next Motzei Shabbos, January 8, our shule will have a Women’s Melava Malka. The speaker will be Dr. Elana Rosencrantz PSYD. Please check your Young Israel mailing for the details. If you have not already done so, please RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. I am sure it will be an event enjoyed by all in attendance.
Have a great Shabbos.
